Jane Yates – art background
Asked to leave Cardigan Art
Collage Wales, after being told that I was too much of an individual.
I was lucky enough to have studied with the well known Welsh Artist
Tony Steel-Morgan who convinced me that being thrown out of art school
was the best thing for me.
I have exhibited work in
many group and solo exhibitions in England and Wales.
My work has been for sale in public amenity spaces. On one such occasion
I sold no paintings but one was stolen, which quite pleased me as
they must have liked it enough to steal it as there was a lot of people
milling about and it must have been some great risk.
(of course I never reported it)
Galleries and shops in Wales
have housed my paintings and a gallery owner in Swansea City Center
gave me the space of an entire floor from his three storie gallery
for one year at his own expense.
Partly the reason I have
made this web site is that I have a limited record of the paintings
that I have completed and many have been sold unsigned.
My paintings have been bought
by gallery owners, collectors and private individuals but I prefer
to swap work and have done so on many occasions, most notably with
Uri Geller.
I am currently drawing a
cartoon called Fat Spaniel, based on my dog, which I am hoping will
soon be published in a new free paper not yet launched.
I am a web designer and Archeological
illustrator, I undertake commissions and I am always happy to hear from
people via the e mail.
